Our Story

"Shamrock Auto Trim is a small family business founded by my father Dan McPherson in 1968. He's a master craftsman who stills works a full day. My mother Kathy answers the phone, gives estimates, makes lunch, runs the office, and keeps us all in line. My brother Lee is the shop foreman who always knows what's going on with each job. My whole family was born and raised in Miami.

Recently, our previous mascot Fraiser, a Jack Russel terrier, sadly passed away. Fraiser was a customer favorite who came to work with us every day for 17 years. Fraiser even received Christmas cards from customers and some would stop in just to say hello to him or bring him a dog biscuit. Today, we have a cockapoo named Bella who loves greeting customers!"

- Randy McPherson, head of operations

"Our business is decorated with antique signs and neon clocks. Many of our customers have told us that our workshop feels like they have been transported back in time! Over the years, we've had a few antique cars, such as a 1935 Ford truck, 1954 Packard convertible, 1936 Ford Phaeton convertible, and currently a 2002 Mini Cooper. We try to keep current with the changing trends by attending SEMA, Specialty Equipment Market Association, which is considered to be the best automotive aftermarket and progressive trade show in the world."

- Lee McPherson, shop foreman

"Some potential customers may be fearful when they see the variety and extent of our custom work. I can tell you that we are comfortable working on a Toyota Camry as well a brand new Ferrari. The common denominator is that all customers and jobs are treated with the same level of respect and attention to detail. We can build a complete interior, including new seat upholstery, headliner, door panels, carpet, convertible top, and dashboard. On the other hand, you may only need us to change one section on a seat or replace a headliner. I can't emphasize this enough, no job is too big nor small."

What We Do

Convertible Tops

Our job: Shamrock can replace your convertible top or broken rear glass.

"We are comfortable working with an early classic or your brand new vehicle. We currently work with over 25 new car dealers on warranty top repairs for current models. Miami is a great place to enjoy the sun, however, it dramatically reduces the life span of the convertible top material. Shamrock always uses the best available tops on the market. We can install an original equipment top or use an after market top that uses comparable material. Shamrock also repairs top frames, cylinders, hydraulic lines, and pumps. We also accept insurance claims and give written estimates."

- Randy McPherson, head of operations

Headliners

Our job: Shamrock can  remove your headliner board and recover it with new material in 1 day.

"Almost every automobile, from a Kia Rio to a Bentley Continental GT has something in common: a hard headliner board made out of cardboard or laminated fiberglass. This board is covered with a finished material (cloth, vinyl, suede, or leather) that matches the interior. This material is then laminated to a piece of foam so that it can be easily glued to the roof of your car. Over time, the foam base holding the finished material and headliner board together breaks down from heat and turns to dust. As a result, the finished material is no longer securely connected to the board. Shamrock Auto Trim solves this problem by carefully removing your car's hard headliner board, cleaning it with solvent, covering it with new material, and reinstalling the final product.

We stock the newest materials. In most cases, you can drop your car off in the morning and pick it up in the afternoon. If you're in a hurry, you can wait 20 minutes in our comfortable office for us to remove the board. Afterward, you can simply leave with your car, go about your day, and return in the afternoon for us to install your newly built headliner board."

Automotive and Marine Seats

Our job: Shamrock can duplicate your factory upholstery using matching vinyl, cloth, suede, or leather.

Motorcycle Seats

Our job: Shamrock builds custom and original factory motorcycle seats.

Lamborghini Tonneau Parking Cover

Our job: Shamrock can build the  Lamborghini Murcielago Roadster Stay-Fast Tonneau Soft Parking Covers.

"When Lamborghini built the Murcielago Roadster, they had 1 mission: build it fast! To do so, they focused entirely on engine performance which left no room in the engine compartment for a traditional folding convertible top. Their solution was to install a complicated Targa type top that only technicians knew how to operate. It was simply impractical.

Irv David, owner of Lamborghini of Miami and Palm Beach, presented Shamrock with this same challenge. He told us about a story of a customer requesting to return his new 2006 Murcielago since he couldn't operate the convertible top. We went straight to the drawing board. We opted to not drill holes into the brand new car and instead took advantage of the snaps in the engine compartment and the lift snap on the side. After many iterations of pattern designs, we landed on the one! Mr. David presented his customer with our custom top and he couldn't believe it. We solved this problem, whereas Lamborghini could not. It was a proud moment for our business and family. We agreed to give Mr. David's Lamborghini dealership the exclusive right to sell our cover at his dealerships and online. Today, we are now allowed to sell directly to the public.

We build the covers using Hartz Stayfast black cloth, a 3-ply composite material made of an acrylic woven outer fabric, a rubber inner layer, and a cotton lining. This material is used for building the Bentley Azure and the Lotus Elise convertible tops and is also water proof. Our cover has removable support inserts so it can be folded to fit in the front boot area. A soft cloth on the cover provides a layer of protection to shield the paint. There's also a soft pad to protect the from mirrors and paint from direct contact with the front straps. Our cover can be installed in minutes!"

Motorcycle Heat Shields

Our job: Shamrock builds a studded or plain motorcycle heat shield that protects your inner thighs on a long ride.

"We designed the heat shield for our local Harley Davidson dealership. They had quite a few complaints from various police agencies about the heat that was omitted from the engine and exhaust. After we designed the shield for the police motor patrol we soon realized that the general public had a need for the shield as well. We dress up their plain shield with polished chrome studs which match the ones used on seats and bags. The shield contains a heat blocking reflective foil and insulation which greatly reduces the heat. The shield is easy to install and requires no modifications to the motorcycle. First, you remove the seat, then place the shield down and align with the seat bracket. Once you reinstall seat, you will feel the difference and be able to ride longer with greater comfort. The outer shield cover is fabricated out of original Harley Davidson black material which matches the original seat. The shield only works with stock exhaust and seat. The shield will fit all baggers, softails and sportsters."
